The openers were beaten on the outside edge on numerous occasions but to no avail. But soon, Muzarabani drew the first blood removing Tamim Iqbal for a duck. He got the prized wicket of Shakib Al Hasan as well. Only 38 runs were conceded inside the first Powerplay at the cost of 2 wickets. Chatara continued with his probing line and lengths and finally got his reward scalping the wicket of Mithun. Ngarava then removed Mossadek Hossain. Just when things started to look good for Zimbabwe, Liton Das and Mahumudullah took the game away from them till the 36th over as Mahmudullah fell to Luke Jongwe. Das's stay too came to end as Ngarava removed him soon after he brought up his century. Luke Jongwe was the pick of the bowlers as he conceded 51 runs and picked up 3 wickets in his nine overs. Zimbabwe bowlers conceded too many runs in the last 10 overs and that will hurt them especially after a splendid start. Zimbabwe now have 277 to chase.

Bangladesh were off to a nervy start as they lost Tamim Iqbal for a duck. Shakib Al Hasan too didn't look comfortable at the crease and departed soon. Mohammad Mithun came in and knocked a few boundaries. After that, he ran out of patience and threw his wicket in frustration for run a ball 19. After losing Mossadek Hossain, Liton Das and Mahmudullah joined hands once again and provided the partnership that Bangladesh were looking for. The duo stitched an important partnership of 93 runs for the fifth wicket. Both the batters kept the scoreboard ticking and allowed the runs to keep flowing. Later, Mahumudullah fell to Jongwe but Das stayed at the crease. Just when he started to shift gears and brought up his 4th ODI century. But immediately fell to Ngarava looking to up the ante. Afif Hossain with the support of Mehidy Hasan built a 58-run partnership towards the end and that has helped Bangladesh to put a total of 276 on the board.

Liton Das, Man of the Match is up for a chat - He says that he is really happy. Adds that initially, the pitch was really good to bat on. Mentions that he tried to stick around. Says that Mahmudullah gave a good helping hand in building the partnership. Further says that playing with senior players around always helps.

Brendan Taylor, the Zimbabwe skipper is up for a chat - He says that it's been a long road (on playing his 200th ODI) but didn't manage to pull a victory. Adds that Bangladesh did well to stitch a few partnerships and that made the difference between the two teams. Mentions that the bowlers are trying hard but they couldn't capitalize on the start they got. Finally says that they will switch on again for the next game.

A collective effort from Bangladesh! The bowlers were brilliant with their lines and lengths. Saifuddin provided the breakthrough with a wicket in his very first over. Taskin Ahmed got a wicket to his name as well bowling a peach of a delivery to Wesley Madhevere. Just when Dion Myers was settling in, Shoriful Islam bagged his first and put a full stop to Myer's innings right after the first powerplay. Shakib Al Hasan took the big wicket of Taylor and that made it a little bit easy for the visitors. Except for Mehidy Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain, every bowler had a wicket to their name but Shakib Al Hasan was the stand-out bowler as he bagged a five-fer.

A massive defeat for Zimbabwe! Zimbabwe never looked comfortable chasing this. They started very poorly as Marumani was sent back for a duck on his debut. Wesley Madhevere followed him back with a cheap score. Zimbabwe were two down inside the Powerplay and their innings already looked in trouble. Dion Myers and Brendan Taylor stitched a small partnership before the former walked back for 18 runs. Brendan Taylor couldn't do justice on his 200th ODI as he looked confident and knocked few boundaries earlier. But later, threw his wicket to Shakib Al Hasan. After they lost Taylor, wickets fell at regular intervals and none of their batsmen could play longer innings. Zimbabwe went from 78-4 to 121-9. That pretty much tells you the story and sums up the game. Regis Chakabva was the lone fighter in their innings as only he managed a half-century.
